What causes headaches on the back of your head?

For my father, headaches on the back of the head occurred almost every day for over a year. He finally went to the doctor where he was diagnosed with high blood pressure and given some daily medication. He also increased his physical exercise by walking briskly for 2 or 3 miles daily. The headaches disappeared immediately.

I am 24 years old male. I feel once or twice a month migraine pain ( headache). I don,t Use any medicines I just tolerate the headache. I don,t know why it came in my life . I am facing it since last six months.

Depends upon who they are selling the relief to. The thing is both pains are caused by the same thing so how many ways do you think you need to get rid of the pain? Headaches and migraines are both caused by tight neck muscles. Those muscles go to the top of the head and when tight there they pull on other muscles that go around the head. When those muscles are tight you have your headache/migraine. Migraines are basically tighter pinched muscles which affect a few other muscles or nerves in the area, such as the eyes. The nerves for the eyes go to the back of your head. passing right next to the muscles for the neck. When the neck muscles are tight they press into the nerves to cause pains on the back of they eyes. More pressure causes the pupils to dilate to make one sensitive to light or make things blurry. To get rid of the headaches/migraines you have to free up your neck muscles and here’s how to do that:
Neck
Put your hands alongside your head so your thumbs are on the front of the muscle under your ear and your fingers are on the back of the muscle behind your neck. Squeeze your thumb and fingers together and hold. Relax your body. When your fingers and thumb touch, about two minutes, slowly lower your head as far as you can, release the pressure but hold your neck lowered for another 30 seconds. If any pain remains try it again.
For best results relax your body first by taking a deep breath and exhaling then remain this relaxed.

You took too much medicine. Headaches or pain of any kind have a sort of “memory”. They “remember” the last dose used and need to achieve that each time or more – same way an addiction works. So take only what is necessary.

Black coffee or high caffeine drinks help also. Caffeine is significant in treating migraines.

Here are some tips on reducing the pain
Lie down in a dark, quiet room.
Put a cold compress or cloth over your forehead.
Massage your scalp using a lot of pressure.
Put pressure on your temples.

Has your dr tried fioricet? That worked well for me. Also percocet but that can b addictive. Excedrin migraine can also work. One thing you need to watch for are rebound headaches- the fact that u have to keep taking the medicine because it takes the headache away then comes back

I took 7-8 Excedrin Migraine Gell tablets.

Call a doctor for a better answer. You’ll probably be okay, but too much acetaminophen can cause your liver shutdown and even kill you. There’s a guy in my church that took too much and he had to go to ER. I would play it safe and call a doctor.

My son is 5. Recently he has been waking up with headaches rather frequently. While we do have an appointment scheduled with his doctor I am hoping someone could give my some ideas on how to help him.

Maybe put an icepack on his head when he wakes up or something…?

Are you trying to kill yourself? acetaminophen is a crappy way to do it. Overdose symptoms include:

Abdominal pain
Appetite loss
Coma
Convulsions
Diarrhea
Irritability
Jaundice
Nausea
Sweating
Upset stomach
Vomiting

The overdose effects might not appear for a few hours or more. Ever been stabbed in your liver over and over again? Because thats what it feels like when your liver starts dying. It will be a long slow death. If you didn’t want to kill yourself, I suggest you get to a hospital as soon as possible, although it might already be too late.
